There are a few blockers that can be cleared by matching next to them and clearing these will open up the board a little. But it is best if you work near the bottom of the board to begin with, this will create cascades and may clear the easy blockers for you. Because most of the blockers are inside the candy cane fence they can only be cleared using special candies and combos, so look for these with every move. There are only 4 colours on the board so it is fairly easy to make combos and once you begin to clear the blockers you will get candies dropping into the middle through the gap in the candy cane fence near the top.
